Developmental Screening and Strategies for Support: Hand in Hand Training Winter 2025

Welcome to the Developmental Screening and Strategies for Support training! The objective of this training is to increase knowledge and skill that directly impacts the work practitioners do with infants and young children under the age of 6 and their parents/caregivers. The training is designed to enhance knowledge and skills in recognizing and responding to concerns about a child's development. Upon meeting the requirements of the training, participants will receive a certificate of completion from IEMHP.

Learning Objectives

In this training, participants will:

  1. Gain a better understanding of developmental screening and its benefits in supporting children's development
  1. Understand how to administer a range of developmental screening/triaging/monitoring tools, such as, the HEADS-ED, the Looksee, and the ASQs
  1. Gain a better understanding of developmental support plans and the benefits in supporting children's development with concrete strategies
  2. Implement the knowledge of infant and mental health and developmental screening into their practice and how they support families of young children
  3. Understand and navigate the Hand in Hand resource manual and the DSP templates
  4. Make the appropriate decisions to support a child's development


Prerequisite

  • Orientation (30 minutes): Tuesday, January 14, 2025: 9:00am - 9:30am EST OR Thursday, January 16, 2025: 1:00pm - 1:30pm EST
  • Intro to Developmental Screening (2.5 hours): Due for completion by Monday, January 20, 2025 by 5:00pm EST (recommended)
  • Developmental Screening Coaching Session (1.5 hours): Tuesday, January 21, 2025: 9:00am - 10:30am EST OR Thursday, January 23, 2025: 1:00pm - 2:30pm EST
  • Intro to DSPs (2 hours): Due for completion by Monday, January 27, 2025 by 5:00pm EST (recommended)
  • Hand in Hand Coaching Session (1.5 hours): Tuesday, January 28, 2025: 9:00am - 10:30am EST OR Thursday, January 30, 2025: 1:00pm - 2:30pm EST
  • Implementation Session (1.5 hours): Tuesday, February 4, 2025: 9:00am - 10:30am EST OR Thursday, February 6, 2024: 1:00pm - 2:30pm EST
  • Training Closes: Friday, February 14, 2025 at 5:00pm EST

Once You Have Enrolled in the Training:

    You will be required to acknowledge a Learner's Agreement that outlines the expectations of the training.

  2. Choose your preferred Orientation Session, ASQ Coaching Session, DSP Coaching Session, and Implementation Session
  3. Click on the SUPPLEMENTARY INFO button for your Orientation Session, ASQ Coaching Session, DSP Coaching Session, and Implementation Session to find your Zoom link and additional instructions regarding what you must do to prepare for the session.
