Developmental Screening and Support Plan Training: Spring 2026

Welcome to Developmental Screening and Support Plan Training! This training features the Hand in Hand (HIH) model for supporting the wellbeing of young children and their families/caregivers. HIH is an infant and early mental health promotion, prevention, and intervention model that utilizes the science of infant and early mental health, Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQs), and Developmental Support Plans (DSPs). Practitioners' will increase knowledge, build skill, and learn how to implement validated tools based on the science and best practices for supporting infant and early mental health in their work while enhancing agency capacity to identify and respond to.

Learning Objectives
In this training, participants will:
- Gain a better understanding of developmental screening and its benefits in supporting children's development.
- Understand, facilitate, score, and interpret the Ages and Stages Questionnaire 3rd edition and the Ages and Stages Questionnaire: Social-Emotional 2nd edition.
- Gain a better understanding of developmental support plans and the benefits in supporting children's development with concrete strategies.
- Implement the knowledge of infant and mental health and developmental screening into their practice and how they support families of young children.
- Understand and navigate the Hand in Hand resource manual and the DSP templates.
- Make the appropriate decisions to support a child's development.
Prerequisites
- An Introduction to the Foundations of Infant and Early Mental Health is required to enroll in this training. This course is self-paced and takes ~2 hours to complete. If you have already completed An Introduction to the Foundations of Infant and Early Mental Health than no action is required.
- Learner Acknowledgment: You are required to certify you have reviewed and understand the Learner Acknowledgment that outlines the expectations of the training. Return to the 'Your progress' tab and scroll down to the tile entitled 'Learner Acknowledgment'. The acknowledgment will open in a new tab as a pdf. Please review and return to the Learning Portal tab. Click certify to compete.

- Select your Live virtual Sessions: Participants must attend one (1) of each live virtual session type: Orientation Session, ASQ Coaching Session, DSP Coaching Session, and Implementation Session - Session selections are DUE: Friday, May 1, 2026 - please see below for a full lists of dates.
- Scroll down to the 'Registration' section
- Choose your preferred Orientation Session, ASQ Coaching Session, DSP Coaching Session, and Implementation Session. You must choose and attend one (1) of each session type.
- Click on the SUPPLEMENTARY INFO button of your selected Orientation Session, ASQ Coaching Session, DSP Coaching Session, and Implementation Session to find your Zoom link and additional instructions regarding what you must do to prepare for the session.
